Freedom of Religion

The United States was founded on the principle of freedom of Religion. Not freedom from Religion.

We The People are free to worship God, or not, according to our own conscience and desires, so long as we do not violate the rights of others. We are free to associate with others of like mind, or  disassociate at will. We have no duty to serve or support others.

We have a moral duty, but not a legal one to help and assist our fellow-man. We have no  right, to take from one man and give to another, unless it is by voluntary consent.

The Declaration of Independence is the original founding document for the United States of America.  Interestingly, the actual language  applies to “all men and to any form of Government” anywhere and at anytime. As the following text illustrates;

…”We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed ,-That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness…”

Notice it reads: ‘all men’ and…’whenever any Form of Government…’  this means it applies to all of Mankind and to any form of Government . It makes it quite clear that all are created equal and endowed by their “Creator” with certain unalienable rights. Because,every man is equal they have the equal right to withhold their consent for others to rule over them. The “Just Powers of Government” must come from the “Consent of the Governed.”  So, whenever government action become destructive of mankind’s Life, Liberty or Pursuit of Happiness, it is his/her right to withhold consent and to reject such Despotism.

It is not only their Right, it is their Duty.
